Basic Partner info
The Zdzisław Arentowicz Municipal Public Library in Włocławek is located in the city center, and thanks to this location, it guarantees easy access to the library for all users, especially people with disabilities.
Since the beginning of its operation, the Zdzisław Arentowicz Municipal Public Library has been involved in a number of activities supporting access to culture through the promotion of reading and books, as well as documenting the cultural heritage of the Włocławek region. Furthermore, the Municipal Public Library collects, processes, and makes available its book collection, but also, as an institution of universal character, meets the needs of users in a very wide range – information and educational services, supports the processes of knowledge acquisition, and implements various forms of cultural and educational work with individual and group readers.
To promote activities and encourage reading at the Zdzisław Arentowicz Municipal Public Library, we use, among other things: exhibitions, vernissages, book fairs, library lessons, publishing and promotional activities, author meetings, and literary and art competitions. A permanent element of our cultural and educational activities is cooperation with educational institutions and environments that shape the culture of the region.
In the second half of 2018, the Zdzisław Arentowicz Municipal Public Library joined the “Culture within Reach 2.0” project. The main goal of this project is the digitization of our library collections, which we want to protect from destruction.
In the years 2020-2022, the library underwent a thorough renovation. The modernization and reconstruction of the library building at ul. Warszawska 11/13 began. The library moved to a temporary location at Plac Staszica 1.
After two years of modernization, the library opened its transformed main branch, which includes two new departments: the Media Library and the Children’s Zone. These have been equipped with modern electronic equipment, including PlayStation 5 consoles, a VR treadmill, an interactive floor, and a multimedia table.
Currently, the lending department occupies two floors. Fiction is located on one level, and popular science literature, as well as a reading room with a regional collection, access to numerous press titles, and computer workstations, are on the other.
