The Museum of the Land of Krajna is a self-government cultural institution whose aim is to collect and protect the material and spiritual heritage of Krajna and its historical capital Nakło nad Notcią. Moreover, an important task of the Museum is the dissemination of knowledge about the history, culture, tradition and monuments of the Region. It pursues these objectives through exhibition, educational, research and publishing activities, as well as through the organisation of popularisation events. The idea to establish a museum in Nakło was born in the 1960s. The official opening of the museum in its new premises took place on 3 May 1990. The museum currently houses a permanent exhibition on the history of the town and the region. It includes exhibits ranging from prehistory to World War II. In addition, there is a rich collection of Nakło postcards, an ethnographic exhibition and a biographical exhibition devoted to Klemens Biniakowski – an athlete and sports activist. In the museum’s garden, a lapidarium has been set up, exhibiting, among other things, cobblestones made from tombstones from the destroyed Jewish cemetery and a former border stone between the Wyrzysk and Szubin counties.
